open air theatre - London by summer starlightMonday, July 22, 2013
Well I'm very happy to say London (and the UK) is still enjoying a heat wave. So the summery days have continued. Yay! It's the one time of year when I feel justified indulging in ice-cream every day :)
This weekend we took full advantage of the weather and went to see Pride and Prejudice at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre. Oh my, it was magical.
There's something truly lovely about sitting back on a warm summers evening, glass of Pimm's in hand watching live theatre, while the sun slowly sets, and the birds fly overhead. If you've never been you have to try it. And the play doesn't matter too much as Regents Park Open Air Theatre is all about the atmosphere.
Last year I saw A Mid Summer Night's Dream, and it was just as magical.
I would recommend starting your theatre experience with a picnic in the park, followed by drinks at the Open Air Bar under fairly lights before heading to your seat.
If you're interested in heading along - here's a schedule of up and coming plays. Enjoy.
