o canada part 2: eye candy in MontrealSaturday, August 03, 2013
Well this post has been a long time coming...
I've been completely sucked into the British summer over the last two months (what a cracker!) and found it very hard to sit in front of a computer when picnics and sunshine beckon.
However, if you're after a art fix and thinking about visiting North America any time soon I would highly recommend stopping off in Montreal. Aside from the French influence, the architecture, the theatre... the list goes on, the thing that really struck me when wandering about the city on foot and bicycle was the amazing street art. Montreal streets are indeed eye candy for the art lovers soul.
Here are some of the pics I snapped during my explorations...
... I would love to come back and re-take this snap in winter.
There's quite a few websites and blogs dedicated to the Montreal art scene - here's a few I like:
- Street Art Utopia - some amazing walls captured here
- Ufunk - road art! I missed these, but they are super cool
- Ambiance Montreal - more graffiti style captured here
And of course while in Montreal we checked out the old town... and other sights...
... if you've spent time in Paris, you'll recognise this.
This is James McGill - the founder of McGill University where my husband's parents met as students. They later married in Montreal.

Such a lovely city. Hoping to revisit very soon. Have a great weekend everyone!
