one last summer fling - in Germany

Tuesday, September 10, 2013

Last week I was in Germany, visiting a very dear friend, who recently moved to a small village close to Stattgart in the South West.

Aside from catching up with my lovely friend, the biggest highlight for me was enjoying the last of the summer weather - while knowing everyone else was at work. We made the most of the sun, spending a whole day chilling her local water park (hydro-slide and all), walking through some of the lovely countryside, and most of all  lazily sunning ourselves on her very well placed balcony with local beer for company.

Alas, this trip was my last fling with the summer sun this year...

...and yes, it did involve delicious ice-cream.

There are some lovely trails close to my friends flat - and we had the most amazing skies one day, rather moody looking in this photo, but still nice and hot.

A German flavoured breakfast - eggs, fresh bread and tea

On Saturday and Sunday we leisurely enjoyed our breakfast on the balcony - soft boiled eggs (hiding in the tea towels), freshly baked bread, spreads, cheese, meat and good ole English tea.

For such a simple breakfast is was pretty amazing. I think a view can make anything taste better though.

My new favourite beer, Germany
And my new favourite beer, which I originally bought just because the label was rather humorous. But actually it was lovely.

The most delicious yoghurt ever - Germany
My one Germany recommendation?
Try the yoghurt. It is AMAZING.

My friend liked cheesecake flavour.
Her husband has a soft spot for poppyseed and marzipan.
I loved stracciatella. It was the perfect mix of tangy and sweet all rolled up into a delicious, cool dessert.

Sadly, I'm now back in London and it's freezing!!! Adiós summer, hello autumn.
