busy, busy - the last seven days...

What a week. What a weekend. Two months out from Christmas, and the pace at both work and home are increasingly speeding up. Luckily I had this afternoon all to myself to catch up on life's admin, and a bonus extra hour on top of that since the clocks went back an hour this morning.

Here are some of the things that kept me busy this week:

  • Baking (smiley face). Having time to be creative in the kitchen is one of my favourite things. There's also the bonus of having something yummy to share and munch on once finished. This weekend I baked a Plum, Orange, Pistachio & Cardamom cake for a friends birthday, and also Halloween Spider cookies. Both went down a treat. I'll share these in another post soon.

  • A work event out in Brighton last Thursday. Since I don't get to see the ocean that often I caught the train down a hour early so I could enjoy a stroll along the beach. The wind, salt and fresh air definitely made up for missing out on an hour of sleep.

  • Running. Normally I like to do several gym classes a week - my favourite classes are Spin, Circuits, Body Attack and Body Pump (go Les Mills), but last week I opted for  running instead. Today was the perfect weather for running outdoors. Not too hot or cold, and a wee bit of sun poking out through the clouds. Getting out today was also a bonus, as the UK has been terrorized with news of a 'big storm' headed our way, but so far it hasn't eventuated.

  • I signed up for a month of blogging in November with Rosalilium. This is a pretty big commitment for me, but as I'm quite new to blogging in general I think it will be a good challenge. Fingers crossed. If you're interested in doing the same check out Blog Every Day in November. There's a calendar of tips to keep you inspired.

  • Finding a new favourite restaurant - just around the corner! It's amazing how blind you can be to your every day surroundings. I had coffee with a friend earlier this week who was raving about her favourite Malaysian restaurant in London. Turns out it is 200 metres down the road from where I live. Bonus. That's next weeks Friday night takeaways sorted. Yum!

  • Making Christmas calendars. This is a bit of a tradition for me. Every year I make various family members a calendar for the year ahead, with a different personal photo featured for each month. Calendars are a great pressie - and perfect for posting when your family lives on the other side of the world. This year the making was especially fun, as I had all our wedding photos to choose from. If you want to do the same I recommend using VistaPrint. The website is very user friendly - but get in quick as they hike up their postage costs close to Christmas. More to come on these soon too :)

  • Booking tickets to see Joseph & The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat at London's New Wimbledon Theatre. Joseph was a favourite of mine when I was little - I even had the CD. So I'm looking forward to singing along later this week. No doubt hubby will be kicking my shins trying to get me to quiet down!

It's just started raining outside - and I can hear the wind as I type, so it looks like it might be a soggy Monday morning. I'm off to enjoy the last few hours of my Sunday night.

What's been keeping you busy lately??
