photo friday - London Chinatown

Happy Chinese New Year everyone, and welcome to the Year of the Horse!

I snapped this photo in London's Chinatown on Tuesday evening, and you can see some of the festivities and decorations were already out and under way. I love how colourful London Chinatown gets at this time of year. And it's the perfect place to fill up on tasty dim sum, dumplings and bubble tea!

Thanks to Jess from This Analog Adventure for her Friday Photo link up.

Funnily enough, even though I join friends for a celebratory Chinese New Year meal ever year, until last weekend I never knew the story behind the animals of the Chinese zodiac.

It was a race! An exciting race where the Rat cheated, a Cat almost drowned and the playful Dog (that's my zodiac by the way) got distracted, had a bath and came in almost last. If you haven't heard the story I recommend you you check it out.

What year were you born in?

  2. I was born in the year of the rabbit! :) I love that shot! I've been wanting to explore LA's Chinatown but always end up being too lazy to drive there. Haha

    1. Oh you should, I imagine it's really cool. I used to love wandering around San Fran's Chinatown when I lived there for a year.

  3. Fantastic decorations - I love Chinatown at this time of year. It's so vivid and alive, a lovely bright end to gloomy January! I'm a dog - I'd have preferred if there was a cat but dog is just as good. I like the thought of being loyal. x
