homemade wedding signs

Wednesday, February 26, 2014

These days you see lots of wooden and blackboard wedding signs on Pinterest. And lets be honest - when I was planning our wedding I wanted in on the action.

Arriving in New Zealand from the UK only six days before our wedding meant I had limited time to do anything amazingly unique or grand - so I kept it small and simple. Wooden blocks and some left over house paint in my parents garage.

First up - a wedding sign to inject a wee bit of British into the day...

Keep Calm and Say I Do - wedding sign

Our wedding ceremony was in a garden behind the homestead where we would later have our reception. To ensure guests didn't walk through the building beforehand I made a simple 'vows' signpost that directed everyone along a garden path to our ceremony spot. To complete the look I finished it off with a lavender ribbon to match our wedding colour theme :)

Wedding Vows - wedding sign

I made another simple wooden wedding sign to mark the date and occasion...

Best Day Ever - wooden wedding sign

And lastly made a forth sign to sum up how we felt about each other in a cute, lovey-dovey, wedding appropriate way...

You're the only fish in the sea for me - wedding sign

If you're planning your wedding and wedding signs are your thing, then I would completely recommend you go for it. One of the best things about homemade wedding signs is that we now have some lovely souvenirs from the day. I'm looking forward to displaying them in our own house one day.
