DIY candy wedding favours

Wednesday, June 18, 2014

Today I'd like to introduce you to Elizabeth from A Dash of Wanderlust - my first ever guest blogger! Elizabeth is a gal after my own heart - she loves to travel and explore the world like a local, and is currently living in Lithuania, one of my new favourite European countries.

As it's Wedding Wednesday Elizabeth is going to take over and tell you about her DIY candy wedding favours. Even these have a travel theme! Yum!!

Elizabeth from A Dash of Wanderlust

Hi! I'm Elizabeth from A Dash of Wanderlust and I’ll be taking over for Claire today so she can enjoy her vacation.

Recently, I've been reading a lot of wedding related blog posts and spending hours searching Pinterest for wedding ideas, as my own wedding is on June 29! I've never been one to daydream about my future wedding and a big wedding was never what I wanted, however I have a big Greek family so I knew that if I ever got married that is what I would have.

Luckily, I'm getting the best of both worlds. Last winter, J was offered a job in Lithuania and we needed to have a marriage license for me to accompany him. So on May 14, 2013 J and I went to a courthouse and eloped! After our official marriage we began to plan a (relaxed!) celebration where our families and friends could come together to enjoy. For this celebration we really wanted to DIY and personalize as many things as we could (hence the hours on Pinterest and blogs).

As we've been living abroad in Lithuania we've been taking every opportunity we can to travel. With each trip we've purchased candy and made sure to get a photo together (something surprisingly easy to forget!). On the opposite side of the world, my Mum has been scouring second-hand stores to collect large glass bowls.

DIY travel wedding candy favours

We wanted our wedding favour to reflect things that we love, so we are putting together a candy bar that shares candies and photographs from our travels.

It’s been fun sharing about my wedding plans here, thanks so much for having me Claire!

Did you DIY any parts of your wedding?

  2. Such a cute idea! We got married in a movie theatre, so instead of having traditional programs we printed out stickers and stuck them to popcorn buckets. It was quick, simple and our guests loved it!
