Second up - Koh Samui, Koh Tao and Koh Phangan - three beautiful islands located in the Gulf of Thailand, about 700km south of Bangkok.

Koh Samui, Koh Tao and Koh Phangan are famous for their beaches, snorkelling and night life, and all three islands are well established on the tourist trail these days. So if you want to have a taste of Asia without it being too challenging then this is a great spot of the world to visit.

Hubby and I spent many a day chilling on the beach in Koh Samui, and I had one of my most memorable travel sleeps ever in Koh Tao.

Of course the real attraction of travelling to these islands is are the famous Full-Moon parties held on the sandy shores of Koh Phangan every month!

The night we made our way to Koh Phangan for some full-moon party action it was pouring with rain - a real typhoon and we almost didn't make it. The short version of this tale includes an illegal boat with no lights crammed with party goers crashing through the dark waves and us praying we would make it to the party in one piece. The great news is that we did (yay) and then made up for the rather 'bumpy' boat ride by over indulging in 'bucket cocktails' and dancing till the sun came up the next morning.

A word or warning - there are very few toilets at full-moon parties so most people use the ocean instead and tell themselves 'hey - it's Thailand - the water is this warm'. Ekk gross! Oh to be 20 again!

    1. Hi Jenna - awesome, I'm jealous. My main tips would be make sure you leave your resort (if you're staying in one), hire a scooter/get a push bike and head out to see some local spots. If you get off the main drag you'll find the best food of your life. Don't miss trying Thai pancakes, they are awesome! Also I recommend checking out Kunaram Temple. Google and you'll find out why. Have a fab trip!
