(San) Juan del Sur, Nicaragua - #AtoZtravel

Monday, November 10, 2014

San Juan del Sur is a little beach and fishing village on the pacific coast of Nicaragua, where hubby and I spent a week learning to surf back in 2009.

Considering neither of us are particularly coordinated on the sports-front we had a great time, and actually made a lot of progress - managing to get up on our long boards after only a few hours in the surf on day one!

I've being trying to dig up a few pics of me on my board, but alas I didn't take as many photos back in those days and can't find any photo proof of my surfing skill. So you'll just have to believe me :)

What makes San Juan del Sur is its beautiful beaches and relaxed pace of life. We found the locals and expats who had made San Juan del Sur their home open and friendly, and spent quite a few evenings picnicking on the beach and watching the sun go down...

This November I'm blogging every day in a A to Z travel challenge, where I'll share some of the amazing but more obscure places I've travelled to in the world as I make my way through the alphabet.

If you'd like to join me on this travel blogging challenge please do. I'd love to hear about some of your favourite travel destinations. Tweet using #AtoZtravel and I'll retweet you, or just share your posts in my comment feed. Enjoy and Happy #AtoZtravel November!
