finding my travel mojo & 2015 resolutions

Monday, February 16, 2015

Now that we are mid-way through February 2015 I'm very interested to know how you are all going with your new year resolutions? For me it's about the time of year that I tend to forget all the promises I made at the start of January. Alas you might have noticed there hasn't been a huge amount of blogging action here recently. Sometimes life just gets in the way!

This weekend gone I was determined to get my travel mojo back and set aside the whole of Sunday for research, planning and booking - as there's nothing more satisfying than finalising the next adventure. All in all I managed to organise three trips (yay). Here's where I'm off to next...

1. Bilbao and San Sebastian, Spain.
We are going next weekend! Bilbao is the largest city in Spain's Basque Country and is slowly but surely starting to break free of it's industrial reputation. Home of the world famous Guggenheim Museum, and just a short bus ride from San Sebastian I have no doubt we are in for a blast next weekend.

What am I looking forward to the most? The Winter Cider Houses that appear in the Basque Country from January through to April. Drink your heart out!

2. Côte d'Azur (aka the French Riviera), France
This will be our five-day Easter getaway. Côte d’Azur is well known as the most glamorous of all Mediterranean playgrounds - particularly the flashy St Tropez that draws huge summer crowds.

Hubby and I will be basing ourselves in Nice for the five days - I've rented our very own little French apartment and am already planning day trips to Hyères, Saint-Tropez, Agay, Cannes, Juan-les-Pins, Antibes, Monaco and Ventimiglia. Can't wait!

3. Calgary and Vancouver, Canada
At long last we are headed back to Canada. Since our last visit to Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa and Georgian Bay a few years ago we have desperately wanted to explore the delights of Vancouver and Calgary. Not only are the flights booked - but we also have tickets to the famous 2015 Calgary Stampede. Yee-haa!

Happy Monday - hope you all have some exciting adventures coming up soon!

  1. Oh Stampede! It's certainly a fun thing to do there and the Canadians LOVE it! I am from Texas so I didn't quite understand the difference from the rodeos that we have, but it's a great reason to party. I'm jealous of all your beach destinations on the agenda for this year!

  3. Such an exciting list! I'd love to visit Canada one day! I didn't make resolutions so I'm doing ok on that front but I do feel like I need to get on with travel planning for the year or I'll end up going nowhere! Bilbao sounds great too and I really enjoyed the French riviera when I went many years ago :)

    1. I think you're on to something not having resolutions. Good luck with the travel planning - there's nothing more satisfying than booking in the next holiday if you ask me ;)

  5. Your 3 trips sound amazing!! I haven't been to Spain or the French Riviera (but would love too - I'll actually make it to Cannes and then Corisca later this year!) but have been to Vancouver and Calgary. Absolutely loved Vancouver - do much to do and see! We spent a month there and it was perfect!
