New Zealand nostalgia

It's not very often that I feel nostalgic for New Zealand (sorry Mum!) but I would be lying if I said I didn't miss or think about home every now and then.

A few weeks ago my sister in law asked me to email through some photos I took last time hubby and I were back visiting. This was almost three years ago when we got married, and I have to admit looking through all my old snaps did make me think it is time to go back again.

I'm a North Island gal through and through, and can sometimes feel like it's my duty to encourage people panning a trip to NZ to visit the North Island (not just Auckland) in addition to heading down South. So here is my proof - a selection of random photos in some of my favourite NZ spots that I took over a few weeks in March 2013. All of these are in the North Island of New Zealand. I give you home...

On our next trip to New Zealand (hopefully early next year) there will be three of us! Kodai will meet her grandparents for the first time. I'm looking forward to that moment.

  1. I can imagine that NZ has so much more to offer than just Auckland and Wellington so I would definitely want to head out in the country to see more of its beauty!! Is there a difference in getting around between the south and north island though? Or is it just a coincidence that people mostly visit the south more?

    1. I think most people tend to spend the majority of their time in the South Island as that's where a lot of Lord of the Rings was filmed, and the South Island is famous for its scenery. Personally I love the North Island just as much - you just need to head out of the cities to experience the best of it.

  3. I can see why you would feel nostalgic for NZ. It looks really pretty. And how exciting that your Grandparents will get to meet their grandchild next time you go.

    1. Yeah, I am really looking forward to heading back next year :) It'll be the first time in about seven years where I'll have an extended stay and not need to leave after a few weeks to go back to work.
