Vancouver dreaming - Canada

It seems an age ago since hubby and I were enjoying an extended summer holiday in Vancouver, when in fact it was really only a few months ago.

Vancouver instantly stole my heart on arrival as the city felt like just the right combination of urban sprawl and outdoor living...

Surrounded by water and mountains that conveniently provide skiing in the wintertime just a hop, skip and jump from downtown, Vancouver is my dream city. Beaches in summer, a city that's big enough to keep me entertained (with a great local brewery scene), paired with fantastic hiking close by when you want a spot of nature.

I just hope people that live in Vancouver know how lucky they are!

To see as much as we possibly could hubby and I hired bikes for a few days to explore the city. Around the perimeter and coastline there is a dedicated bike lane, which at speed would take no more than a few hours but I like to take my time. That's what holidays are all about right?

The weather was beach worthy (the geese thought so too) and over the week I spent many a happy hour sunning myself and my growing bump.

We caught some pretty nice sunsets too...

Vancouver even has a public swimming pool right on the waters edge. I tell you, this city has it all. Oh, and did I mention the amazing Japanese and Korean food? Swoon.

So, now I'm home in London and day dreaming of Vancouver from my couch the question is - would I go back again for another summer holiday? And would I consider living there one day? The answer to both is 'hell yes!'. Another city for my list of possible long term options...

  1. Vancouver seems beautiful and that sunset picture is just gorgeous!! I'd love to visit the Pacific Northwest one day. Just wish it wouldn't be so expensive to get there....

    1. Thanks Van. Yep travel can be expensive but we actually found Vancouver not too bad once we got there as there is a heap of free outdoor activities you can do for free in summer. I imagine winter time might be a bit more pricey!

    1. I would love to explore a few more of Canada's beach areas. Mostly I've spent more time at lakes an in cities so far.
